Comilla came from behind to hold a formidable Dhaka University to a one-all draw in the Jubok Phone National Football Championship at the Sylhet Stadium yesterday.
Star-studded Dhaka University predictably took a 1-0 lead in the first half when striker Saifur Rahman Moni scored from a penalty in the 27th minute.
It was however the university goalkeeper Titoo who kept his side in the game during the first session as he brilliantly saved a powerful Pintu shot in the 38th minute, the only attempt that the Comilla side produced in this half.
After the breather, Comilla regrouped in front of a strong crowd to equalise the margin after continuously attacking Dhaka University, led by Pintu who went close in the 47th minute to bring the fruit but his shot struck the side bar.
Comilla finally found the net in the 56th minute as the unmarked Humayun Kabir Moyeen finished a simple task after getting the ball in the box from Bablu’s minus.
Comilla was unfortunate not to win the match as their strikers spoiled some easy chances to upset their mighty opponents when Dhaka University was totally out of the battle in the second half.
Pintu of Comilla was adjudged as the man of the match.
